Spring term 2

Welcome to Beech Class Blog.
Please check back every Friday to see what we have been up to!
20th - 24th March
This week we have been looking at the story of Easter and have spent time focusing on each of the events that lead up to Easter Sunday. On Monday we learnt about Palm Sunday and made a class 'thankful' palm. On Tuesday we went down to the church for our very own Coronation and we crowned King Jude who so far has proved a very good, kind and fair king! Back at school we moved onto The Last Supper and using Leonardo da Vinci's piece of art as a stimulus we created our own 'Last Supper' which we presented at the Easter service on Thursday. The children did a brilliant job and we are super proud of them.
13th - 17th March
For science this week we looked at properties of everyday materials and their changes.
We got out the clay and had fun bending, squashing, stretching and twisting into wierd and wonderful creatures. It was a bit messy but we had lots of fun! In PE with Mr Stork we learnt a new team sport - unihoc and had a great time dribbling and shooting the puck around the hall!
6th - 10th March
It's been a busy week for Beech class. The children worked so hard in putting together a fantastic Bafta-winning class assembly in the style of 'This Morning', with our very own Holly and Phil!
The theme was 'Wild Weather' and the children did such a great job sharing with their friends and parents all their learning on the weather so far.
They sang and signed a song about the weather and proudly shared their watercolour work. We are so very proud of Beech class. They put on a brilliant performance and were awarded a Confident Caterpillar in Friday's 'Cracking Caterpillar' assembly.

27th February - 3rd March

Another fabulous week in Beech class! This week we celebrated World Book Day and we focused on the book 'The Word Collector' where all children came to school dressed as a word.  We had fun adding our words to a Whole School Word Wall, took part in a costume parade and searched for book characters around the school. The children had a fantastic time and their costumes looked amazing! Thank you so much to all parents and carers for going above and beyond!
20th - 24th February

The children in Beech class have had a super week back and have come back after the half term ready to learn and ready to do their best.  In literacy we have been looking at Cautionary Tales using little Red Riding Hood as an example.
